| NM officer adopts homeless mom's opioid-addicted newborn ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - When a New Mexico police officer responded to a report of a theft at a convenience store, he had no idea the call would change his life forever. CNN reports that after Officer Ryan Holets finished the call, he noticed a couple shooting up heroin in broad daylight behind the store.
